At the annual AWS Summit, Amazon announced an initiative to create an open-source database of brain cell data, a Virtual Innovation Center launched in conjunction with the Interoperability Institute, and new FHIR API offerings on Amazon HealthLake aimed at improving data exchange and patient access.
Nearly three in four (72%) of Millennials consult online reviews before booking an appointment with a doctor or dentist, a poll from communications platform Weave found. What’s more, 53% of Millennials trust online reviews more than word-of-mouth recommendations, and 77% trust reviews more than star ratings.
Half of Americans (52%) said paying medical bills is stressful, according to an HPS/PayMedix survey. Thirty percent of Americans have had to dip into their savings to pay medical bills, while 17% have delayed payments. Additionally, 19% have received a collection notice from a provider – and 62% of those who had said it made them feel more negative about their provider.
Half of Canadians (51%) experience anxiety while waiting for their medical imaging results, according to a PocketHealth survey. But patients benefit from seeing their records: 85% said access made them less anxious about their diagnosis, and 65% said access helped them catch information not previously shared by their doctors.
