A Look at the Nobi Smart Lamp

One of the cool products we saw a demo of at the HIMSS conference this year was the Nobi smart lamp.  Roeland Pelgrims, CEO at Nobi, took the time to demo the smart lamp to us and tell us more about what makes the Nobi smart lamp special.

Pelgrims shared that the goal of Nobi is to empower older adults.  That’s why they believed that smart technologies like the Nobi smart lamp must be hidden and designed for life.  He suggested that Nobi is “Clark Kent” 99% of the time and only has to be “Superman” 1% of the time.

What helps Nobi be superman is its ability to do fall detection, fall prevention and lifestyle monitoring.  This uses optical sensors, audio sensors, and more to be able to detect a fall.  If a fall is detected, the lamp can easily communicate the incident to a caregiver.  In a home, that may be a loved one or in a care center, that may be the nurse using their management system.  Once they receive the notification, the caregiver can talk with the patient or loved one through the lamp to assess what’s happened.

Nobi also integrates with other smart devices like scales, blood pressure cuff, and other health devices.  Check out the video demo below to learn more about the Nobi Smart Lamp.
