19Labs, Funding Experts Partner To Guide Healthcare Providers On 2021 FCC Funding Application

Providers can leverage 19Labs' flexible GALE platform to gain more points by adapting multiple use cases (e.g. RPM, rural clinics, and school enhanced telehealth)

Telemedicine has seen significant growth in the past few months, especially with the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19. The telehealth market was estimated at $38.7 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach $191.7 billion by 2025; and the uptick in demand is due largely to the pandemic forcing healthcare providers to adapt remote technologies in the age of quarantines and social distancing.

Last year, the FCC announced a $200M allocation for its COVID-19 Telehealth Program, which was designed to help healthcare providers fund telehealth initiatives for remote care during the pandemic. Over 500 health systems benefitted from this, but applications were halted on June 25, 2020 due to increasing demand. On March 30, 2021, the FCC announced that it would move forward with a second round of the COVID-19 Telehealth Program, this time with a total of $250M to be provided in funding.

The FCC’s COVID-19 Telehealth Program remains to be one of the most effective ways for healthcare providers to acquire technologies that will help them to provide continued care during the pandemic. As such, 19Labs teamed up with grants experts Dana Satterwhite and Barbara Catenaci to launch a webinar series during the month of April to guide healthcare providers through the application process. The first webinar was held early in the month, and covered topics such as application best practices and early preparation steps that organizations can take. A second Q&A webinar was held a week before the program reopened on April 29, which focused on use cases (e.g. Home RPM, school enhanced telehealth, rural clinics) and how 19Labs's GALE platform can adapt multiple of these and potentially increase application points. An open forum was also provided for participants to ask for advice on their specific application questions.

“It’s important that people still have access to excellent healthcare during the global pandemic”, said Ram Fish, CEO of 19Labs. “We believe that telemedicine will expand and play a bigger role in the delivery of healthcare for years to come, and the FCC’s COVID-19 Telehealth Program provides an excellent opportunity for healthcare providers to expand remote care services to their patients.”

Attendees gave 19Labs positive feedback after the webinars, saying it was very helpful in understanding how to get a head start on applying for the program.
