Poll: 60% of Americans Favor Employer Mandate

About six in 10 Americans say they are in favor the Act’s Mandate, according to a poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

However, the public’s opinion on the requirement that with 100 or more workers provide in 2015 shifts based how the mandate is explained, Kaiser reports.

The share with a favorable view rises from 60 to 76 percent after those oppose are told that “most with 100 or more workers already and won’t have to pay the fine.”

In contrast, the share with an unfavorable opinion rises from 38 to 68 percent after those supporting are told that “some are moving some workers from to to avoid paying the fine.”

The poll shows a partisan split in opinion about the mandate, with 34% Republicans a favorable view, compared to 78% Democrats and 61% independents.

A majority (84%) say they have heard “only a little” or “nothing at all” about the U.S. Supreme Court’s announcement in early November that it will hear the King vs. Burwell case.
