The “e-CareManagement Blog” is now “The Healthcare Platform Blog”

Introducing The Healthcare Platform Blog

You’ve been a subscriber to receive new postings on e-CareManagement Blog.  I’m writing to let you know about a shift in direction — the “e-CareManagement Blog” is becoming “The Healthcare Platform Blog”.

Many of the past themes will continue:  technology, chronic disease management, care coordination, health IT, innovative business models and strategy, telehealth/virtual care, and others. Also continuing will be the spotlight ACROSS sectors of healthcare rather than within individual sectors, e.g., hospitals, pharma, devices.

Introducing The Healthcare Platform Blog

I’ve been focused on platforms in healthcare for a long time.  My journey down the platform rabbit-hole began in 2007.  A client — Randall Williams, MD, the CEO of Pharos Innovations — asked me a question: “We see the big tech and retail companies creating powerful platform business models. Do you think there’s anything in here for us and other healthcare stakeholders?”

Platforms are becoming the dominant business model of the 21st century. There are over 40 general-industry books that focus on platform strategy and business models.  But none of these (yet) focus specifically on healthcare.

But Wait…There’s More

Randy Williams and I have kept in touch and we’re now writing a book on healthcare business models and strategy. You can think of it as a healthcare version of “Platform Revolution“, the bible of platform strategy that has now been translated into 10 languages. We’ll be announcing a 3rd co-author of our book in the near future. You’ll be seeing much of the content of our book previewed on The Healthcare Platform Blog. We’re also laying the groundwork for a 2022 podcast on healthcare platforms.

The shift in focus to being all-in on platforms also is reflected in a website update — I encourage you to take a look.

I hope you’ll share news of The Healthcare Platform Blog with colleagues.

To your best health,

Vince Kuraitis
