China’s Ping An Good Doctor and Thailand’s largest private medical group, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), yesterday announced the launch of a video consultation service. The service will allow the users of Ping An Good Doctor to seek second medical opinions via video consultations with top physicians in Thailand.

Chinese users can purchase the service from the “Overseas Top-Tier Doctors” on Ping An Good Doctor’s mobile application. Subsequently, they can make appointments with the doctors from BDMS and obtain more professional advice from medical experts through the video consultation function. According to Ping An Good Doctor, doctors will assess the patients’ medical history prior to consultation and provide recommended targeted treatments based on their medical history.

In the near term, both companies will launch an overseas body examination service specially designed for Chinese users, who can make appointments for health check-ups through Ping An Good Doctor’s mobile application.

THE LARGER TREND

Back in November 2018, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim to integrate and exchange their experienced medical resources online and offline, and provide one-stop healthcare services for millions of Chinese patients, MobiHealthNews reported. Ping An Good Doctor’s partnership with BDMS is part of the company’s plans to expand into overseas markets by capitalizing on its technological capabilities and mature Internet healthcare operation experience.

Last week, Ping An Good Doctor entered into a strategic collaboration with Merck to jointly explore integrated solutions to advance intelligent healthcare in China. BDMS is no stranger to Chinese patients, as they readily provide medical facilities and services to Chinese visitors in major tourist destinations such as Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Bangkok, according to Poramaporn Prasarttong-osoth, chairperson of BDMS in a Xinhua News report.

To better serve Chinese customers, BDMS also has developed a website, bdmschina.com to provide them with an easy access to updates, healthcare packages tailored to Chinese customers, and a quick and convenient search to find useful health-related information.
