Wearable giant Fitbit and fitness apparel company Adidas have just released their latest running-specific training wearable, the Fitbit Ionic: Adidas edition.

The product was born out of a partnership between the two companies, which was announced last year, and is a combination of Fitbit Ionic and Adidas’ Train app.

“As the leading global wearables brand synonymous with health and fitness, partnering with a sports industry great like adidas to develop an exclusive version of our first smartwatch provides athletes of all kinds with the ability to be their best through a unique coaching experience,” Tim Rosa, chief marketing officer of Fitbit, said in a statement. “The battery life of up to five days, industry-leading GPS, and advanced health and fitness features of Fitbit Ionic combined with the movement-based training methodology developed by adidas experts will offer users best in class tools designed to help them reach their performance goals.”

The wearable includes the Adidas Train app, which is made up of six run-focused workouts aimed to target strength and flexibility. The app is designed to provide step-by-step coaching, and offers courses on warms ups, strides, metabolic stimulation, and post-run stretching.

In December, Portland Business Journal reported that Adidas would be ending its business unit responsible for the development of its fitness watches, sensor-enabled footwear, and other wearable devices. On the surface, today's newly announced product would suggest that the fitness apparel company will be relying on partners for future releases in this space.

Fitbit, for its part, recently announced that it would be acquiring healthcare coaching platform Twine Health for an undisclosed sum earlier this month. The acquisition put Fitbit more solidly into the healthcare space than it was previously.

The Fitbit Ionic: Adidas edition will be available on March 19, 2018 for $330.
