For the 6th episode of the CIO podcast hosted by Healthcare IT Today, we’re sitting down with Aaron Miri, CIO at The University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin. Along with being a healthcare CIO, Miri also is Co-Chair of the HITAC Committee (Health Information Technology Advisory Committee) which advises ONC and HHS on a number of the most important health IT regulations and initiatives.
In this episode, Miri shares a lot of great insights into what’s happening in health IT and how he’s using that information as CIO. Plus, he shares some of the leadership lessons he’s learned. We also ask Miri to share why he’s so involved in the HITAC Committee and what that accomplishes for him, his organization, and for healthcare in general. Finally, he offers some advice for new and up and coming CIOs.
Here’s a look at the questions and topics we discuss on this episode:
- What’s the biggest change that’s happening in health IT today? Why does it matter?
- In your work as CIO, what is the accomplishment you’re most proud of?
- If you could change one thing about your job as CIO, what would it be?
- What’s something you’ve learned as CIO that you wish you’d learned earlier?
- Why did you choose to participate on the HITAC committee and what do you see it accomplishing?
- How would you describe where we’re at with healthcare interoperability? What more needs to be done?
- What piece of advice would you give a new or up and coming CIO?
Now, without further ado, we’re excited to share with you the next episode of the CIO Podcast by Healthcare IT Today.
