In its goal to become a full-stack digital health provider, London-based Numan has acquired medical science and healthcare technology company Vi-Health, based in Stockholm and Malmö.

After completion of the acqusition, the majority of the Vi-Health team will be joining Numan, whilst continuing to work from their offices in Sweden.

WHY IT MATTERS

Registered as a Class I medical device, Vi-Health's platform includes an AI-powered symptom checker, e-consultation tools such as collaborative chat, voice and video-consultations, and workflow automation tools. In combination, they have been shown to reduce the workload faced by a clinical team by 70%, according to trials run by the company in Sweden.

The technology extends Numan’s Clinic OS, and accelerates the company’s aim towards becoming a holistic, full-stack, digital health provider.

Digital health clinic for men, Numan covers a range of conditions using a therapeutic model, which combines prescription medication and proprietary OTC products, pathology and screening, along with doctor consultations. The startup offers direct-to-consumer health products and pharmaceuticals, personalised supplements and access to UK-based clinicians.

Since 2019, it has worked with 150,000 patients and recruited 300,000 men to its platform, who in total have engaged in 1.4 million digital consultations.

THE LARGER CONTEXT

In October, Numan completed a £10 million Series A funding round to continue in investing in technology, expand operations and grow the team.

In a MobiHealthNews blog, Professor Sam Shah, chief medical strategy officer at Numan explains why men’s health, and health inequalities experienced by men are not things that many policymakers focus on.

ON THE RECORD

Sokratis Papafloratos, founder and CEO of Numan, said: “Vi-health is an exceptional company and was the perfect fit for us in terms of vision, IP and skills. We want Numan to be your first step on a journey to better health and wellbeing, and Vi Health’s technology and IP help us get there faster. More importantly, the team was a big driver behind our decision to make the acquisition. It’s a group of people full of talent, deep expertise, and a passion about changing healthcare for the better, on a global scale. We’re all very excited to be working together.”

Professor Shah told MobiHealthNews: "Numan has continued to identify new ways of helping people access healthcare and developing our clinical systems. The latest addition to Numan will enable us to develop our clinical offer to patients, widening the range of conditions and creating systems that augment the clinician experience. We recognise the benefits of a data driven approach to healthcare, improving access and availability of our services."
