The Role of AI Technology in Healthcare and the Changes It Will Bring – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 9/18 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Stephanie Guadian (@StephanieG_ECG) and Alexia Severson (@AlexiaS_ECG) from @ElectronicCare on the topic of “The Role of AI Technology in Healthcare and the Changes It Will Bring“.

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is becoming a bigger part of healthcare than ever before. With several AI technology platforms on the market today and many others in development, it won’t be long before AI is a prevalent part of the healthcare system.

“AI will impact healthcare by adding automated value to data,” said Dr. David Keeley, Chief Technology Officer at Electronic Caregiver®, a national health technology company. “The more value we can add in an automated fashion, the more time providers will have to actually provide care.”

AI incorporates machine learning, modern deep learning, natural language processing and more. Some of the latest AI innovations include virtual assistants, robotic assisted therapy and surgery, and telehealth. AI applications in healthcare are designed to improve diagnosis and treatment, patient engagement and adherence, patient outcomes, and assist in administrative tasks. It also has the potential to trim patient expenses and personalize healthcare plans and disease management.

While there are many benefits of AI in clinical and home settings, there are also several concerns and ethical questions surrounding its use, including limited health data, information security, and accuracy.

Join us for this week’s HITsm chat, as we discuss the role of AI in healthcare.
