MEDITECH EHR’s Approach to Telehealth – EHR Telehealth Series

When we first started creating our live video telehealth list, we quickly realized that every healthcare organization was going to need to know and understand how their EHR vendor was planning to approach telehealth.  Were EHR vendors going to roll out their own solution?  Were EHR vendors going to embrace third party telehealth solutions?  Would they allow integrations?  Many appropriately rushed their telehealth implementations in order to solve the pressing requirement for telehealth.

While all of this happened at break neck speed thanks to COVID-19, now healthcare organizations are going to need to look back at the various telehealth options available and decide the best path forward.  Is it best to purchase a telehealth solution from your EHR vendor or should you go with a third party telehealth vendor?  What are the pros and cons to each?

In order to better understand these questions and more, we’re doing a series of telehealth interviews with EHR vendors to understand how they’re approaching telehealth in their company.  We plan to dive deep with each EMR vendor to better understand how they’re approaching telehealth.  Are they developing the technology in house or are they working with a partner?  How deeply are they integrating telehealth into the EHR?  How important do they think telehealth is to the future of their business?  How will they work with third party telehealth companies?

MEDITECH’s Approach to Telehealth

The first EHR in our EHR Telehealth series is MEDITECH.  We were happy to sit down with Maureen Williams, Marketing Solutions Manager, Consumer and Physician Experience at MEDITECH to dive into the details of how MEDITECH is looking at telehealth.  We learn about MEDITECH’s integration with Vonage to create a seamless, embedded telehealth experience for their customer.

Plus, we do a lightning round discussion of telehealth features to help MEDITECH users better understand what’s possible with MEDITECH’s telehealth solution and what may be coming in the future.  Finally, we talk about how MEDITECH would approach working with third party telehealth vendors that may want to integrate their telehealth solution with MEDITECH.

Check out the interview below to learn more about how MEDITECH is approaching telehealth:
