The Civitas Networks for Health 2022 Annual Conference, a Collaboration with the DirectTrust Summit, brought together HIEs, state agencies and interoperability experts nationwide. .

With this option, HIEs can focus on their primary role: being a neutral body for facilitating the collection and sharing of healthcare data with authorized users. Whichever path forward an HIE chooses, support of patient access must remain a priority. HIEs are the true stewards of information sharing in their communities.

In Arkansas, they’re lucky to have one statewide HIE which is focused on improving patient health outcomes. When it comes to HIEs, each one is different. They often have distinct missions, and many states have multiple HIEs trying to approach electronic information exchange from several directions.
