If you’ve worked in EHR and health IT, then you’ve almost certainly heard of Micky Tripathi. One of the early people involved with trying to encourage EHR adoption and interoperability of records, he’s had a big influence on the EHR industry and interoperability as we know it. As CEO of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC) for over 15 years, he’s had quite the experience seeing EHR software be adopted and efforts to make those records interoperable.
In case you missed the news, after over 15 years MAeHC has decided to wind down the non-profit organization and is transferring certain assets to Arcadia.io where Micky Tripathi will continue working as the Chief Alliance Officer. We wanted to learn more about what went into this decision, what lessons Micky learned from the last over 15 years, and why moving to Arcadia.io is a good fit for him and the organization.
If you want a better understanding of how we got where we are today, you’ll enjoy listening to Micky and I take a bit of a walk down memory lane to what EHR adoption (ok, it was EMR, not EHR back then) was like 10-15 years ago. Plus, Micky offers a look forward as to where we still need to go and what he’s working on now at Arcadia.io.
While we certainly hit a few side tangents, here’s a look at the main questions we discuss:
- The big news was MAeHC Winding Down Operations and Transferring certain assets to Arcadia. Tell us about what went into this decision.
- What are some of the things you were able to accomplish at MAeHC?
- What were you not able to accomplish fully that still needs to be done?
- You’ll be joining Arcadia, why were they a good fit and what’s your vision going forward with them?
- As a leader in healthcare interoperability, what’s your take on COVID-19 and interoperability?
