We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 10/8 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Jeremy Coleman (@JeremyColeman) on the topic “Fhun with FHIR.”
Fire has been a tool of mankind before there was written language. HL7 created FHIR to be a tool for mankind to solve many problems with data interoperability, but after nearly a decade, what do we have to show for it?
FHIR utilizes a foundation of API, application programming interface, technology which is used in many industries to solve data exchange. We have yet to see universal adoption and healthcare continues to live up to a reputation of slowly adopting new technologies that only a caveman could be proud of.
We have all seen trained animals in highly controlled environments do awesome tricks. These feats resemble the narrow and theoretical showcases of the capabilities of FHIR. The discussion we will have focuses on FHIR accomplishments in the wilds of production. How is FHIR making HIT better for patients and providers?
Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat where we’ll discuss the following questions and topics.
Topics for this week’s #HITsm Chat:
T1: Let’s get the obvious off the board first. What is the “punniest” FHIR usage you have seen at conferences or marketing materials? #HITsm
T2: What is the best, or most effective, use of FHIR interoperability you have witnessed in production? #HITsm
T3: What is FHIR missing from a scope of data or process to read a goal of increased adoption? #HITsm
T4: Will FHIR ever lead the interoperability marketplace at any time in the future? #HITsm
T5: Do you believe the hype around FHIR helps or hinders the adoption of the solution? #HITsm
Bonus: What other standards do you think have promise besides FHIR and why? #HITsm
