2021 Health IT Predictions – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 1/8 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by John Lynn (@techguy) from @hcittoday on the topic “2021 Health IT Predictions“.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hard to believe that 2021 has arrived, but here we are and carry on we will.  While I think we’re all grateful to be through with 2020, I think we all know that 2021 is going to be extremely challenging and transformative for healthcare as well.  How will telehealth play out?  Will we go back to in person work or continue remote work?  Will we continue to use technologies that keep some physical separation between clinicians and patients?  What’s going to happen with healthcare interoperability post-pandemic?  Will new relationships with competitors lead to new opportunities?

Plus, beyond those things that were brought on us by the pandemic, we’re also seeing the explosion of really great technology that can help make healthcare better.  Leading this charge is all the various AI solutions.  Whether it’s ambient clinical voice technology which is designed to do your clinical documentation for you or if it’s a chat bot that’s helping a patient navigate their care experience, AI is upon us in so many different ways.

We’re also seeing an interesting confluence of different technologies and data.  Whether that’s communication infrastructure, SDoH Data, wearables data, and much more, all of these various efforts are coming together at the same time to present some fascinating opportunities for healthcare organizations.

Those are a few ideas to get you started, but I’m sure you have more. I hope you’ll join the chat to share what you’re seeing and what you predict for 2021 in health IT.

This week’s #HITSM Twitter chat we’ll be making predictions for 2021 and debating the predictions shared.
