Healthcare IT Holiday Wish List – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 12/10 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by @EMRAnswers and @Bossoft on the topic “Healthcare IT Holiday Wish List.

As we enter the 2021 holiday season, healthcare leaders continue to anticipate the challenges and opportunities that continue to emerge as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Healthcare was hit hard in 2020. However, C-Suite executives say they expect the COVID-19 crisis to be one of the biggest opportunities for growth in healthcare. We’ve witnessed the growth of telehealth during the pandemic. Will the benefits continue in the coming year?

As our economy labors post-pandemic, we must consider not only the COVID-19 impact but the additional challenges posed as a result of the “great resignation.” According to Kaufman Hall reports, “Hospitals face greater uncertainties in the coming months as a result, as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations appear to once again be on the upswing before many have even had a chance to recover from the last surge.” With constantly changing rules and regulations, how can we improve healthcare IT systems and services so that they work for the challenges posed as well as the people on our teams?

Two-thirds of people around the world want to work flexibly when the COVID-19 pandemic is over. But, how do we get there? Despite the embrace of a hybrid employment model, few organizations can articulate the specifics of how to carry out a more permanent mix of remote and on-site work in healthcare. For this reason, digital transformation is still a top of the mind concern. Increased flexibility, faster technology, and elimination of data silos means better outcomes for employees and patients, but how do we ensure which projects make the “nice” list and which ones fall off?

This week’s #HITsm chat will celebrate the holiday season and allow us to generate a “wishlist” for those technologies that can further empower people and make the future of work even better than our current model.

Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat where we’ll discuss the following questions and topics.

Topics for this week’s #HITsm Chat:

T1: How can we continue to minimize the “noise” in IT? For example: EHR alerts or multiple requests within the same IT system. #HITsm

T2: What revenue cycle strategies can we implement that will reduce payer loopholes and add value to the healthcare ecosystem? #HITsm

T3: How do we continue to build post-pandemic business continuity? #HITsm

T4: How do we engage with the patient and do a better job of tracking Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)? #HITsm

T5: What digital transformation projects are on the top of your list for 2022? What revenue cycle strategies can we implement that will reduce payer loopholes and add value to the healthcare ecosystem? #HITsm

Bonus: If you could wave a magic wand and immediately add one thing to HealthcareIT, what would it be and why? #HITsm
