Functional fitness company TRX is going corporate with the launch of its digital program for businesses called TRX for Employee Wellbeing.

TRX is best known for its suspension training bands that are portable and can be set up in nearly any door frame to complete a range of workouts including strength training, cardio, yoga, Pilates and recovery.

The company’s latest offering allows client companies to give their employees access to the TRX Training Club, a digital platform with on-demand and live workout classes. It also supplies enrolled employees with a free TRX Suspension Trainer, discounts on other TRX products and a complimentary one-on-one virtual training introductory session.

As a part of the program, TRX also supplies employers with company-wide engagement reports to help them visualize its impact on employee wellbeing.

WHY THIS MATTERS

TRX developed its employee wellbeing program to help combat the negative effects of working from home, a practice that has become widespread during the pandemic.

Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, 20% of people said they worked from home, compared to the 71% that began working at home during the pandemic, according to the Pew Research Center.

On the whole, this work-from-home transition has led to a decrease in physical and mental wellbeing, with people getting less physical activity because of it, according to a survey from the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

"What we are seeing is a profound increase in mental and occupational (sitting) health challenges within today's workforces, especially with the increase in remote working," Brent Leffel, chairman and CEO of TRX, said in a statement.

"Companies are running fast to find a solution that can actually help solve the problem. Many of these companies started approaching us as the leader in functional movement and since we are uniquely positioned given the versatility of the Suspension Train – which can be anchored and used anywhere – and knowing that our new digital training experience makes moving better accessible to everyone."

THE LARGER TREND

Other fitness companies that offer corporate wellness programs include Gympass, which recently began offering Yes Health’s concierge health coaching to its client companies, and Peloton.

Earlier this year, Peloton found itself in some controversy when it had to recall its treadmills after reports of more than 70 incidents of child injuries and one death. It has since updated its treadmills with new safety features.

Additional digital fitness companies include Moxie, Freeletics and ClassPass.
