This morning virtual care company InTouch announced a new telehealth product called Solo that is a fully integrated, end-to-end care platform.

Solo is able to integrate scheduling, eligibility confirmation, e-prescriptions, patient surveys, payments and digital signatures. A number of major EHR platforms such as Epic, Allscripts and Cerner are able to integrate with the technology.

The platform was designed to accommodate for multiple settings including direct-to-consumer, direct-to-patient, provider-to-provider, clinics, worksites and emergency departments. InTouch is pitching this as a tool, which has multiple packages and prices points, for practices of different sizes that can scale the services based on the practice’s needs.

Solo will be run through the InTouch Network and will include an updated interface for telemedicine visits, IT integrations and care coordination.

WHY IT MATTERS

Coordinating care and integrating multiple tools is a common complaint in the healthcare industry. The new platform aims to tackle this issue by having one common tool that can provide an end-to-end product.

“At the end of the day, this isn’t about technology. This is about improving healthcare; helping clinicians deliver the highest quality care efficiently – anywhere a physician or patient may be located,” Joseph M. DeVivo, InTouch Health CEO, said in a statement. “With physicians and patients in mind, ease of use and access were top priorities for this fully integrated platform. And the new pricing model breaks down the barriers small practices often face when implementing telehealth solutions. From large hospitals and health systems to individual physicians, InTouch Health wants to ensure all providers have the opportunity to utilize this groundbreaking solution.”

THE TREND

These new capabilities come almost a year after InTouch acquired fellow telemedicine company Reach Health. At the time of the acquisition, InTouch said that its purchase of Reach Health would help broaden its footprint and enhance its ability to help customers roll out telehealth programs across the continuum of care.

In January of 2018 the company also acquired TruClinic, which a service that specializes in direct-to-consumer care. This latest announcement is the first fruit of these acquisitions.

ON THE RECORD

“Healthcare providers are facing an immense amount of pressure to retain and attract new patients from both inside the system and the external, new market entrants,” Steve Cashman, chief commercial officer at InTouch Health, said in a statement. “Virtualizing their practices as appropriate creates an opportunity for providers and patients to connect in ways that can meaningfully improve quality, access, and cost. Solo by InTouch is the first of its kind integrated platform that considers health systems’ large investments in EMR systems and can offer capabilities to every user from simple follow ups, to ambulatory clinics, to emergent care.”
