We help provide the tools to help people aggregate their medical records, organize them, and format them so that they can be shared easily, seamlessly and securely on a blockchain, such as Ethereum.

Elevator pitch

It’s our body, it’s our data. Health Wizz is a secure mobile platform that provides consumers with the necessary tools for aggregating, organizing and sharing their medical health records with other family members or caregivers, as necessary, over the blockchain.

Founders’ story

Raj Sharma
Raj Sharma

The idea to take on the big health industry interoperability problem came to Raj Sharma, Health Wizz CEO, when he was sitting in the emergency room, helplessly watching his mother undergo yet another series of unnecessary, duplicative medical tests. This was even more painful as she had already done all those tests just a day before, at the first Emergency Room, where she was admitted after a fall. Because of interoperability issues that plague the healthcare industry, the tests could not be obtained in time for her second ER visit. As Raj sat watching his mother, exhausted and annoyed with all of the time and money wasted, he thought that if he had the healthcare data in a secure, portable format, it would have saved time and money, while ensuring better, timelier care. With this idea, he and his two co-founders Sirish Bajpai (CTO) and Dr. Nitin Desai (chief medical officer), founded Health Wizz.

Marketing/promotion strategy

Health Wizz offers a free mobile application that helps individuals aggregate their health records from several sources including wearables, electronic health records (EHR) and their genome. Using the Health Wizz app users create their own personalized health record (PHR), which empowers them to take ownership and control of their health data. For the first time, users are in complete possession of their medical records and this information moves with them wherever they go.

Once aggregated, Health Wizz enables users to organize their medical records, and then instantly share/donate/trade their medical records on the blockchain. The blockchain enables users to create a Health information exchange of one (HIE of One) and trade their medical records using a digital token. Health Wizz even matches research organizations and pharmaceutical companies with individuals interested in participating in clinical research or precision medicine.

Market opportunity

In spite of all of the advancements in data management, electronic health records continue to be a huge stalling point. The U.S. spends a staggering $200 billion on unnecessary, duplicative medical tests and services because medical health records programs are siloed. Data analytics, research, new drug discoveries and clinical trials are hindered because scientists and researchers don’t have access to an individual’s longitudinal health history. More than 250,000 people die each year in hospitals because of medical errors, often resulting from manual transfer and lack of interoperability of information from one health institution to another.

Who are your competitors?

There are several mHealth (mobile apps) applications that compete with Health Wizz in different areas. However, Health Wizz has a much more comprehensive vision of how every individual should be able to carry their medical history with them at all times. Health Wizz also plans to integrate with mHealth apps from major vendors, so that health data from these mHealth apps can be aggregated in one place, in the Health Wizz app, and then normalized so it can be shared with others using industry accepted standards. None of the other apps that we know allow for trading of health records as digital assets on a blockchain.

Current needs

Health Wizz is currently looking to create organic virality for the product through gamification. In social games, players interact and incentivize one another using various equivalents of gaming power. Health Wizz is looking to incentivize virality by providing users with “OmCoins” to promote app engagement and engagement with other users in health related conversations and challenges.
