Teladongo announces executive leadership team; MedCrypt adds cybersecurity veteran to board of directors; and more digital health hires

With Livongo and Teladoc’s merger expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year, the two companies recently announced the combined company leadership team, which won’t include Livongo’s CEO, CFO, president or SVP of business development.

Once the merger closes, Zane Burke, the CEO of Livongo, Lee Shapiro, the CFO of Livongo, Jennifer Schneider, the president of Livongo, and Steve Schwartz, the SVP of business development at Livongo, will depart the combined company.

They will be replaced by Jason Gorevic as the CEO, Mala Murthy as CFO, David Sides as COO, Dan Trencher as SVP of corporate strategy and Drew Turitz as SVP of Corporate Development.

Cybersecurity software for medical devices developer MedCrypt recently announced the addition of Michael McNeil to its board of directors.

McNeil brings over 35 years of experience in cybersecurity and business to the board. He currently serves as the senior vice president and global CISO for McKesson. Before that, he held the role of global product security and services officer for Royal Philips and was in charge of leading its global product security program. He is also the former global chief privacy and security officer at Medtronic.

Additionally, he is a member of the Department of Health and Human Services Healthcare Industry Cybersecurity Task Force, and is currently a board member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation and the Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center.

“As a recognized leader in medical device cybersecurity, there are few people who have spent more time than Michael McNeil has, thinking and addressing the problems of device security,” said Mike Kijewski, the CEO of MedCrypt. “He is considered by many as the one who has established the de-facto standard for how manufacturers should implement security governance, processes, and technology.”


Zipari, a technology platform for health insurance consumer engagement, recently added two new hires to its leadership team.

Scott Morris is the new SVP and CISO and will be responsible for the company’s information and cybersecurity program. He joins Zipari from BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, where he served as the VP and CISO. He also serves on several advisory boards in the cybersecurity industry including for H-ISAC, Inc., and IBM.

Michael Grimaldi is now the SVP of technology shared services at Zipari and will lead shared technology services across the organization, including architecture, core engineering and quality assurance. He also last served at BCBS of WNY and was the senior director and chief technology architect. Additionally, Grimaldi is a board member for InfoTechWNY.

HealthJoy, a healthcare benefits assistance platform, announced the appointment of Dr. Patricia Pechter as its new chief medical officer. Petcher joins HealthJoy after previously serving as the medical director of virtual care at Oscar, a health insurtech company.

In her new role, Pechter will oversee clinical care operations, lead the way in finding new services for the platform and will help integrate third-party programs, the company said.

Pechter earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a medical degree from the University of Miami. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Beth Israel Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City before becoming a faculty member at New York University.

In-home urgent care provider DispatchHealth recently announced two new appointments to help the company provide convenient patient-centered care using technology, the company said in its announcement.

Sara Crate has become the chief commercial officer. She will oversee DispatchHealth’s sales and market strategies, and will be responsible for implementing scalable processes for the company’s country-wide markets. Prior to this role, Crate served as the chief sales officer at Honor, as the senior vice president of partner development at Evolent and was a senior vice president of sales and account management for the health and wellness division of Walgreens.

Bruce Johnson was hired as general counsel for DispatchHealth. He will oversee the company’s legal matters and will provide legal input for strategic business decisions. Johnson brings more than 30 years of legal and management consulting experience to his new role. He previously served as DispatchHealth’s external health care regulatory counsel.

Healthcare Merger Corp. and SOC Telemed have nominated three new independent members to its board of directors, to be elected at a special meeting on October 30. The nominated members are Dr. Barbara Byrne, Joseph Greskoviak and Anne McGeorge.

Byrne has served as CIO at Advocate Aurora Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system, since 2017. Prior to that, she was at Edward-Elmhurst Health in Illinois as the CIO and then the CMO. She also serves on the board of directors of Spok Holdings, a provider of communications solutions for the healthcare and public safety sectors.

Greskoviak has held a range of positions at Press Ganey, a provider of digital healthcare performance improvement solutions, including vice chairman, CEO, president and COO.

McGeorge brings over 35 years of experience providing strategic guidance and operational and financial oversight to healthcare organizations to this position. She currently serves as an operating partner at Havencrest Healthcare, as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and as a member of the board of directors and as the chair of the audit committee for Magenta Therapeutics.

Joyce Roehner joined the Hyr Medical team last month as the new VP of client success. She brings experience in sales, healthcare, startup and technology to her new position.

Before this new role, Roehner managed enterprise portfolios at IBM Watson Health, worked in sales and client management roles at PointClickCare, and helped provide corporate and independent retail pharmacy solutions with McKesson and Emdeon.

Roehner holds an MBA in healthcare management from Regis University and a bachelor’s degree in communication from the State University of New York at Buffalo.


Cardiologs, an artificial intelligence cardiac diagnostics medical device company, recently added two new members to its board of directors – Rick Anderson and Mark Toland.

Anderson currently serves as chairman of Revival Healthcare Capital, an investment platform specializing in medical devices and diagnostics. He has previously served as managing director at PTV Healthcare Capital and has held multiple executive leadership positions, including worldwide franchise chairman for Cordis Corporation and company group chairman at Johnson & Johnson.

Toland comes from a background of serving as the CEO of Corindus Vascular Robotics, which was acquired by Siemens Healthineers in 2019, and as the SVP of Boston Scientific.

Tech-enabled women’s health startup Advantia Health recently announced that Dr. Sharon Kressel will be the lead OB-GYN for Liv by Advantia Health, a practice in Washington, D.C., that provides OB-GYN, primary care and mental wellness services, as well as access to virtual care.

“When we set out to build a groundbreaking practice, we knew we would need an exceptional team to make this vision a reality,” said Sean Glass, the founder and CEO of Advantia Health, in a statement. “Dr. Kressel is exactly the right fit for this role at Liv. She not only shares our values and our vision, but she also brings clinical excellence that will set the standard of care at Liv.”

Kressel is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and has almost 10 years of clinical experience as an OB-GYN. Before this position, she was in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her undergraduate and doctorate degrees at the University of Virginia and completed her training at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Liv is set to open in early 2021 and will accept most major insurance plans, according to Advantia Health.


Tia, a tech-enabled hybrid women’s health company, recently hired three new members for the company’s executive leadership team.

Dr. Kathleen Jordan is the company’s senior vice president of medical affairs. In this role, she is responsible for scaling Tia’s clinical model and will assist in the recruitment process for physicians. Prior to this, Jordan served as the chief medical officer at Saint Francis Memorial, a Dignity Health Hospital in San Francisco, California.

Jessica Horwitz was hired as the vice president of virtual care and clinical operations, where she is responsible for operationalizing Tia’s in-person and virtual care platform and quality control at scale. Before joining Tia, Horwitz worked at NuRx as the vice president of medical services.

Tia also hired Tom Barnes as the vice president of payer strategy and revenue cycle management. He will lead Tia’s payer strategy, negotiations and revenue cycle management. Barnes previously served at e4 as the general manager and practice director for revenue cycle services.
