To help support the process of vaccinating the 1.4 million NHS workers across the UK, med tech start-up DrDoctor has announced that they are offering their QuickBook solution to streamline the vaccination booking process to all NHS trusts and Health Boards.

The first 2000 staff members will be booked for free.

WHY IT MATTERS

As Britain faces its most important logistical challenge in the upcoming mass vaccination against COVID-19, a wide-scale intelligent booking system will be required.

As a stand-alone web-based tool, Quick Book works across all vaccination settings without an IT integration required and claims it will enable NHS trusts to create one month’s worth of vaccination appointments in five minutes.

NHS staff have been on the frontline of the battle against COVID-19 for the last nine months and will be among the first to receive the vaccination to stay protected against the virus.

The tool allows NHS staff to choose the dates and times that best suit their schedules and also links the two appointments required for the COVID-19 vaccination, ensuring that any missed or cancelled appointments are moved in tandem.

THE LARGER CONTEXT

The UK recently announced that it will use AI for COVID-19 vaccination side effects. Software company Genpact UK has been paid £1.5 million for the AI tool that will be used to process the adverse reactions.

In September, DrDoctor raised £3 million to expand its digital patient services platform and increase its reach across the UK.

ON THE RECORD

DrDoctor CEO and founder Tom Whicher said: “Time is of the essence in the fight against coronavirus and Quick Book will help deliver the vaccinations needed to protect the NHS and get the British economy moving again. By putting NHS workers in control of their bookings we can ensure the greatest number of our NHS heroes are vaccinated in the least amount of time.”

DrDoctor co-founder Rinesh Amin added: “Trusts can get started with Quick Book without any technical integration with their current administrative systems, meaning they will be able to set up thousands of vaccination appointments in minutes. Even better, NHS workers will not have to download an app or do anything other than visit the booking site on their web browser to select their preferred time.”
