This morning neuro focused digital health company Flint announced that it landed an additional $1.72 million in funding. The new money is a Eunice Kennedy Shriver grant from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Flint has had an ongoing relationship with the NIH since 2012. Including this latest funding round, the NIH has contributed a total of $8 million in funding to the company.

What they do

Flint develops digital health tools focused on the neuro-rehabilitation space, including stroke rehab. So far the company has three products: the FitMi, MusicGlove, and MiGo. 

FitMi is designed to promote neuroplasticity with highly repetitive motions, which increase in complexity as the user improves. MusicGlove Hand Therapy uses a music-based game to facilitate hand therapy. Lastl, Migo is a wearable that tracks a user's motions and helps users set goals.

The company said that the new funding will help further develop and improve the FitMi system.

This isn’t the only neuro-rehab-focused digital health company. In June, Switzerland-based MindMaze landed FDA clearance for MindMotion go, a gamified neurorehabilitation therapy platform for medium and light severity impairments able to be deployed in the patients home.
