Carrot signs with RedBrick Health, and more digital health deals

Redwood, California-based Carrot, a digital health company that offers smartphone-paired smoking cessation device, has signed an agreement with Minneapolis-based RedBrick Health. The partnership will allow a portion of RedBrick’s clients early access to Carrot’s platform, and will give RedBrick category exclusivity to market the platform through 2018.

"We obtained FDA clearance for our breath sensor system in Fall 2017 and recently launched at our first self-insured employer clients to help their employees quit smoking," Carrot CEO Dr. David S. Utley said in a statement. "Our partnership with RedBrick Health accelerates our commercialization of Pivot, as well as our mission to engage and empower millions of people to quit smoking.”

Kyruus, maker of provider search and scheduling tools for health systems, announced that Partners HealthCare has expanded the use of its ProviderMatch software suite. Over the next few months, the health system will deploy Kyruus’ software across its enterprise, facilitating access to more than 8,000 providers.

“A step to help our patients have better access to our world-class providers is making detailed information about their expertise, availability, and locations more easily accessible,” Dr. Gregg Meyer, chief clinical officer at Partners HealthCare, said in a statement. “This partnership can improve access to that care and enhance the overall patient experience.”

DocSpera, a HIPAA-compliant software platform for surgeons and surgical staff, has entered a partnership that will allow it to join the athenahealth Marketplace. Through athenahealth’s “More Disruption Please” program, DocSpera will become available to a network of roughly 111,000 healthcare providers.

"DocSpera delivers a valuable and unique comprehensive service for surgeons, ASCs, and Hospital ORs," Samuel Ethiopia, COO of DocSpera, said in a statement. "The platform allows athenaNet users to experience seamless coordination and a real-time monitoring capability that begins at the surgical decision point and continues through to the end of patient recovery.”

Piedmont Healthcare has expanded its use of Glytec’s eGlycemic Management System, a digital glycemic management and insulin dosing tool. Piedmont will be implementing the platform at Piedmont Henry Hospital, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Piedmont Newton Hospital, and Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

“With eGMS, Piedmont Healthcare will have the means to demonstrate high-reliability care for patients who for reasons of diabetes or stress-induced hyperglycemia require insulin during their stay,” Glytec’s Vice President Clinical Services Melanie E. Mabrey said in a statement. “Use of our GlucoMetrics solution will allow us to measure progress and identify areas where improvement may be needed.”

Predictive health analysis company BaseHealth announced that its previously reported partnership with Banner Health saw a successful initial phase of deployment.

“BaseHealth’s analytics gives us a much better way to target the right patient with the right intervention for their risk. It provides us with a more proactive approach to healthcare by alerting us to the specific factors driving disease risk, so we can plan and implement clinical and health management efforts,” Michael Parris, senior director for business intelligence and analytics at Banner Health, said in a statement. “BaseHealth allows us to target one member at a time with solutions catered to that individual. These actionable insights can change the course of patients’ lives and that’s incredibly exciting.”
