It’s Friday heading into the weekend, so we generally try to end the week with a little humor. Although, I have to admit that this week’s cartoons are a little more scary and sad for me than humorous. Although, they definitely hit some humorous points.
Maybe this week’s cartoons just describe my current mood that was captured really well in a tweet from today’s #HITsm chat:
Is it just me or is everyone both excited as hell as to the possibilities and also weeping into a kleenex bc this chat is so real????? Just me?????? #hitsm

I replied that this is how I feel when I write about health IT. A lot of optimism for what’s still possible, but also some real sadness about the real challenges we face in healthcare. I think that’s well illustrated in these 3 cartoons.

I didn’t acknowledge the Donald Trump reference in this tweet, because no President of any party has really done anything to improve this.
Amazing @HCareThoughts cartoon highlighting the all too-common dynamic of healthcare thinkers and researchers whose work is nationally renowned, but that isn’t known, appreciated, or implemented locally. #ARM19 https://t.co/ZtgaqhWs9g pic.twitter.com/yvHMSeuT0k

Not sure if this is funny because of the echo chamber or because healthcare is so large that people from the same organization don’t even know each other. Probably both.
The Swiss Cheese model for healthcare, revised in light of the #BawaGarba case.
