Apple has partnered with Zimmer Biomet to enroll 10,000 US knee and hip replacement surgery patients in a new trial involving the Apple Watch and a specialized app called mymobility, CNBC reports. The app includes educational tools and videos that will assist patients throughout their surgery experience, while the watch will allow for activity and heart rate tracking that can be shared with the care team. Each of these features is intended to help researchers and orthopedic practitioners better understand the factors that impact surgery recovery.

Telemedicine provider Advanced ICU Care has inked a deal with Penn Highlands DuBois to provide ICU telemedicine tools to the hospital. Advanced ICU Care’s service allows for 24-7 oversight of patients by certified intensivists, reducing the strain on the hospital’s in-person staff.

“Anything we can do to improve patient care is a top priority at Penn Highlands DuBois,” Dr. Russell Cameron, chief medical officer and chief medical information officer at Penn Highlands DuBois, said in a statement. “Through our work with Advanced ICU Care, we are able to provide 24-7 intensivist oversight in our 27-bed ICU, allowing us to continue to deliver on our commitment to exceptional patient care while also ensuring our bedside physicians and nurses are always supported.”

AI-enabled women’s health platform Flo Health has joined up with Myovant Sciences, a biopharmaceutical focused on women’s health and endocrine diseases, to build a new digital screening tool for heavy menstrual bleeding. Currently, Flo’s platform allows users to access a period and ovulation tracker, graphs about health and mood, daily health insights and birth control reminders.

“Many women do not know if their menstrual bleeding is normal, and currently there are few tools to evaluate this. By partnering with Flo Health to create a new digital tool embedded in the Flo app, our goal is to help women track their menstrual bleeding so they can identify any concerns and discuss them with a healthcare professional,” Dr. Lynn Seely, president and CEO of Myovant, said in a statement.

Home and wearable medical device maker MobileHelp has added Indie Health’s blood pressure monitor and weight scale to its portfolio of supported peripherals. These devices will support MobileHelp’s MobileVitals remote patient monitoring programs.

“Our goal at Indie Health is to make digital health easy, affordable, reliable and efficient for everyone along the care continuum, and we are delighted to work with a partner who shares our vision,” Clint McClellan, CEO of Indie Health, said in a statement. “Our devices are cost effective and scalable because they are simple for patients to use, allowing clinicians to focus on engagement and outcomes rather than fielding questions about technology.”

“WellSky is dedicated to enabling our clients with the highest quality software and services they need to provide vital patient care. We saw Digi-Trax’s leadership in the cellular therapy labeling space and developed a partnership to help our clients ensure accurate labeling that contributes to patient safety,” Bill Miller, CEO of WellSky, said in a statement.
