Missing Teen with Diabetes Found Two States Away

Update -11/4/2016 – Lehigh Valley Live is reporting that Emily Ann Fox, who was missing in Pennsylvania, has been found in Indiana and is safe.

A teen girl with diabetes, presumably Type 1 diabetes, is missing from her home in Glendon, Pennsylvania, according to Pennsylvania police.

Emily Ann Fox, 13, was last seen at her home around 4:00 am, on November 2nd, 2016. She left her house in an unknown direction. She is listed as being 5’8” and approximately 170 pounds, with bright red hair and either blue or brown eyes. She is considered endangered, which is a classification for a missing person who may be in danger because of a medical condition or who is missing in circumstances that might otherwise put them in danger.

No reports on her disappearance have mentioned whether she had insulin and self-care supplies with her. No public relations person with the Pennsylvania State Police was made available during a brief phone interview as of the morning of November 3rd.

Her home town, Glendon (also listed as Glendon Boro or Glendon Borough), is located in the eastern middle of Pennsylvania, about an hour and a half north of Philadelphia and about an hour and a half west of New York City. Anyone who might have information of Fox’s whereabouts should call 610-759-6106.

While we have no idea about the circumstances surrounding Fox’s disappearance, we at Insulin Nation urge parents of teens with Type 1 diabetes to develop an action plan of what to do should teens be required to care for their blood sugar levels entirely on their own. While no parent wants to picture a child running away or otherwise being separated from their home, it’s good to plan for worse-case scenarios.
